Chapter 1141: Second Breath (1)
Armed with the insights of a first-generation Werewolf—Rex possessed access to knowledge beyond the reach of most. Among these secrets, lay the details, of the World Awakening, one phenomenon that was known only to extremely curious individuals.
Frankly speaking, there were a couple from each race that knew about this phenomenon.
But they wouldn\'t know to Flunra\'s extent.
In his talk with Flunra days ago, he knew that the World Awakening had happened once.
It happened during the transition of the first and second generations which was also the time of change from the Radical Era to the Era of Might. At that time, after the catastrophe caused by the Supreme One, launching a crusade to eradicate all Supernaturals, the powerful energy caused by it, broke the limiter of the world.
Naturally, the World Awakening began to adjust to the current inhabitants\' power level.
Mother nature would not fall, and her defensive mechanism was triggered.
Just like what was happening now, the First Breath, happened back then—resetting the level of energy in the world to close to zero. Chaos surfaced with the magic-based races, reigning extremely weak during that time.
Races such as the Werewolves, Dragonman, and Demons ran havoc on the entire world.
It lasted for several painful years.
However, that stopped when the Second Breath happened.
As the world\'s energy level was reset—the boundaries, were expanded to accommodate, the burgeoning power emanating from the beings inhabiting that era. Once these boundaries got to the point of being firmly established, the Second Breath occurred, replenishing the energy levels and revitalizing Mother Nature with mana and all forms of energy.
Under the effect of the revitalization, the world itself changed.
And the first sign of this happening was the swirling energy around the white sphere.
Rumble!
Linthia abruptly stood up from her seat when an earthquake happened.
Even though she was under what seemed to be a serious exchange—the earthquake forced her to quickly get out of her office. Reaching outside, she could already see that the people, were flailing and screaming in panic.
"Sound the broadcast, have everyone inside their homes!" She commanded.
Upon hearing this, several city guards swiftly moved and headed over to the defense station.
After saying that, she instructed more city guards to address the people and she ran back to her office and took out a gemstone in her drawer. Then, running in a direction, she arrived at some sort of pillar formation with an altar at the center.
Putting the gemstone above it, the ground beneath her glowed with moonlight energy.
It was a defensive mechanism that the city had.
Activating this altar would spawn barriers across the homes of the citizens and protect them.
Only after doing that, Linthia could breathe better.
"What is happening?" She mused, stepping out of the pillar formation to look at the castle.
Just as she anticipated, Rex could be seen standing on the balcony.
Linthia was not worried if this was an earthquake—as the city is strong enough to sustain an emergency like that, but she was worried because the white sphere, was acting weird. But it was then that she darted her eyes to the side, seeing a figure appeared.
He crawled out of the shadows on the ground halfway, and almost spooked Linthia to death.
But when she realized that it was Gelmar, she sighed in relief.
Ever since his evolution, there were a lot of abilities that he was capable of doing right now.
"Linthia, tell the guards under you to gather at the south of the city," He suddenly said.
Upon hearing this, she raised an eyebrow, "South? Isn\'t that wing empty?"
"Don\'t ask questions, we need to move fast. Just tell the guards to go there—and you should then go to the back of the castle. Dindora and I are waiting for you there, it is a timely matter so don\'t be late" Gelmar added before disappearing into the shadows again.
Although confused, she did exactly as she was told.
However, curiosity got the best of her as she made her way to the city wall first.
Since she was quite face, gliding into the air, with her fairy wings—she managed to reach the wall, passing the guards—who were supposed to be guarding the walls. All of them are going to the south side of the city after addressing the populace.
Linthia saw that they seemed to be a little bit terrified about something.
Quickening her pace, she landed on the wall and was greeted by the scenery beyond.
At the sight, she gasped in complete shock, "What in the world...?"
As the earth trembled and groaned beneath their feet—the Humming Damned Forest around the city seemed to writhe, and contort in agony. Cursed creatures were howling and running, fearing for their lives, and even the trees seemed to be crying as their leaves fell down.
It was the Second Breath starting, its influence gripped the land with each passing moment.
Within the forest, numerous trees contorted and bowed, their roots ripping through the earth as the ground trembled and fractured. Rocks fractured and fused once more, orchestrating a tumultuous ballet of devastation and renewal, reshaping the terrain in a chaotic symphony of destruction and rebirth.
Linthia bears witness to all of this, and she watches in awe and trepidation.
She felt like she was witnessing the end of the world.
On the other hand, inside the castle, Rex, Flunra, and Adhara also bear this sight.
Just like Flunra explained to him—when the Second Breath happened, the energy level of the world would be restored and go even beyond. Because of that, the change would not only be influencing them but also the world itself.
Due to that, the landscape would be the first one to be changed.
It would expand even reaching twice or thrice in size.
<Warning: the world\'s energy level has begun to be restored>
<The user\'s kingly energy of the Blood Moon is being slowly restored!>
<The user\'s kingly energy of the Banished Dark Moon is being slowly restored!>
<The user\'s lightning element is being...>
<The user\'s water element...>
<The user\'s fire element...>
<The user\'s wind element...>
Not expecting the System to give him a notice, Rex was surprised.
But he now confirmed that the Second Breath is starting.
Exchanging a knowing look, Rex nodded before he pivoted around and entered the castle.
"Are we going to remain still until this is over?" Adhara asks, following from behind.
Upon hearing this, Rex shook his head, "All of us are going to gather at the training chamber, the others should wake up already, this is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Since the world\'s energy level will be restored, the amount of energy in the initiation will be tenfold the normal. Adhara, how close are you to advancing to the next realm with your fire and wind?"
"Half for my fire, and a quarter for my wind," She replied after checking.
Rex smirked when he heard this, "With this, you\'ll break through the next realm in no time,"
Just as expected, Gistella, Evelyn, Calidora, and Kyran came out of their bed chambers.
Considering the earthquake was vicious, it was not surprising.
Under Adhara\'s guidance—the four of them were escorted to the back training room where they found Rex and Flunra engaged in preparations. All of them had questions in their head, however—they already had a guess that the Second Breath was happening.
At the center of the gladiatorial training room were ten intricate formations.
Out of the ten, seven of them seemed to be connected to an altar engraved with a star mark.
It was the Silverstar Mark.
Judging from the formations, it seemed to be some sort of a ritual.
Realizing that the others had arrived, Rex immediately found that they were a few short.
"Kyran, call Ryze, Giana, and Prof. K here," He instructed. "Oh, don\'t forget about Naela too"
Not even asking questions, Kyran did exactly as he was told.
On the other hand, Calidora in her disheveled night gown, that exposes her flawless shoulder strode forward—and asked, "What purpose do these formations for? With the Second Breath in the background, are we going to capitalize on its surge?"
Considering Calidora\'s background, Rex didn\'t anticipate her knowing anything about this.
But it seemed he was completely wrong.
"Yes, yours would be the one on the back. Do you need blood?" He asked back.
Upon hearing this, Calidora nodded as blood is the foundation of her power.
Even though the energy level of the world would surged, this includes blood energy, Calidora would not be able to amass as much as she could without blood. Nodding his head, Rex went to Calidora\'s formation and created a vase to contain the blood.
A simple edit through the editing panel helped him with this.
Following that, he slashed the major artery on his wrist and squeezed his own blood.
Seeing this, Gistella was troubled and approached him, "Are you really okay with this?"
Despite Gistella\'s mixed feelings towards Rex—stemming from his involvement with Calidora, and the pain it caused others—she couldn\'t bear to see him bleeding himself. He was fine for now, stable at the very least.
But he was still recovering from the battle against the Fifthborn.
Such drawbacks from a vicious battle like that would not be easily erased.
Giving a lot of his blood might make the process longer.
Rex gave her a smile, as despite her being mad, she was still worried about him, "It\'s okay,"
A moment later, everyone managed to gather inside their own formations.
Even though the ground was shaking viciously, the turbulent of motions were negated inside the formations. All of them went into their meditative position—and expanded their energies, to fuel the formations encompassing them.
Colorful lights of energies began to shine from each of their formations.
It responded to the energy infused by the person inside.
Naela, Calidora, and Ryze were completely on their own as they were of a different race than Rex, and the others. Rex gave Calidora his blood as a foundation, the Jar of Malice extracting Dealkandrax\'s soul to Naela, and nothing to Ryze.
He didn\'t have anything that could fuel a Dragonman, so Ryze got nothing.
Even then, the formation built by Flunra is good enough to help him.
Meanwhile, observing the readiness of the others, Rex amplified his own power, meticulously imbuing his formation with each one of his elements, red force, moonlight, and also his kingly energy, transforming himself into the living embodiment of power.
Added with the Golden Imperium Fingerguards, his power became destructive.
He shook the entire place, enhancing the earthquake that was going on.
Then, his gaze shifted to the altar before him, connected to his and the others\' formations.
Aside from my lightning, lunar, and water elements, my other elements are inconsequential—If I capitalize on this phenomenon well, I should shoot all of my weak elements to the sixth or even seventh-rank realm.
Even without the System, he has to make use of this phenomenon well.
It was a boost to his forces, and he would not waste it.
Responding to his will—Rex infused moonlight energy into the Silverstar mark etched on the altar, guiding it to connect—the formations to the castle itself. With the castle\'s innate ability to absorb the surrounding energy added to the formations, it would create a chain effect.
Both would complement each other, allowing for more absorption of energy.
Knowing what was about to come after the start of the Second Breath, this is necessary.
Soon, tendrils of ethereal energy seeped from the floor around them.
It was the energy of the world beginning to surge—crackling the training room with extreme anticipation. All of them bathed in the pulsating glow of the surging power. Each tendril was pulled into their formations, causing them to levitate in their meditative position.
However, all of them were not aware of what was happening.
All of them were locked in meditation.
Just like what Rex said, they could feel every part of their beings rejuvenated fully.
Everyone was shocked by the amount of energy in the air, including Rex.
But the amount of energy only increases and increases by the second from that point on.
Ignoring the surroundings, the entire Dargena City was entrapped in meditation.
That includes other territories, all were doing the same thing.
