Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 316: Chapter 316 Ye Ya

Lin Shen knew this was a display of insecurity, Yun simply wanted to do her best to prove her value, so Lin Shen did not stop her.

Since Yun needed time to discern the scents, Lin Shen simply found a spot to sit and watched her search for the right scent all around.

After searching for a while, Yun stopped at one spot close to a cliff wall. She walked back and forth many times and dug up quite a few pebbles to smell near there, but still seemed unable to confirm anything.

"What\'s wrong?" Lin Shen walked over and asked Yun.

"I smell something like a Spirit Base nearby, but something\'s off," Yun said with a strange look as she surveyed her surroundings.

"Off in what way?" asked Lin Shen.

"The scent seems to be coming from this area recently, but I\'ve carefully distinguished the pebbles in the vicinity and haven\'t smelled that scent on them," Yun explained.

"Is it possible that the smell is seeping out from within this cliff wall?" Lin Shen\'s gaze went straight to the cliff wall.

"It\'s possible, but there\'s no way to verify it. The rocks of Giant God Mountain often have wonders about them that should not be disturbed at will, or there could be big trouble." Yun had thought of this before, and desperately smelling the Spirit Base again, she did not want to give up. She kept looking back and forth, hoping that the Spirit Base was buried beneath, not within the cliff wall.

"Forget it, let\'s look somewhere else," Lin Shen did not want to take the risk to dig into the cliff wall.

Disappointed but with no choice, Yun had to give up. Not long after the two of them left, someone ran up to that same cliff wall, gritted his teeth, took out a chisel and hammer, and fiercely struck the wall.

The man had been resting nearby and overheard Lin Shen and Yun\'s conversation by chance, deducing that there might be a Spirit Base within the cliff wall.

He also knew that it was problematic to chisel away at the cliff wall on Giant God Mountain, but the temptation of the Spirit Base was too great, enough to make him take the risk.

The hammer continuously smashed on the chisel, breaking off piece after piece of the cliff wall; before long, the hammer sent the chisel all the way in.

The man was delighted rather than shocked, knowing that there must be a cavity inside. If there was a cavity, it meant the woman from the Moon Rabbit Clan hadn\'t been wrong—there could indeed be a Spirit Base inside.

"A Spirit Base is all I need to live it up for a few years..." the man swung the hammer ferociously against the cliff wall again and again.

Shortly after, he had broken a hole large enough to crawl through in the cliff wall.

The man shone his flashlight inside and saw a cave within the cliff wall.

On a large rock inside the cave lay a corpse that did not seem to belong to the Giant God Clan because it was not very tall, only about 1.6 to 1.7 meters. The clothing on the body had already decayed.

The wind, blowing through the hole the man had made, touched the clothes, and they crumbled like ash, sending flakes of rotten fabric into the air.

Suddenly, the man\'s eyes lit up as he saw a black stone tablet near the top of the corpse\'s head. There was spiritual light flowing within the tablet—it was clearly a Spirit Base.

"Finally... I\'ve finally found it..." the man crawled in heedlessly, ran toward the tablet, and threw himself onto it. He caressed the stone tablet as if it were a woman\'s delicate skin, carefully touching every inch.

"I\'ve finally found a Spirit Base," the man was so excited he nearly cried.

He had taken such a big risk coming to Giant Ring Star, and then to the perilous Giant God Cemetery to dig for treasures. He was gambling with his own life.

Luckily his gamble paid off, and he found a Spirit Base. As long as he had no grand ambitions, this one Spirit Base should be enough to allow him to live a life of leisure for quite a few years.

"I have to thank those two from earlier; if not for them, I wouldn\'t have known there was a Spirit Base here. Haha, those two fools, if they knew I dug up a Spirit Base here, they would be so full of regret, right?" The man couldn\'t help laughing out loudly.

The man let go of the tablet, took out a large bag, and prepared to pack the tablet into the bag before transporting it back with a pet.

But as soon as he turned around, he was so startled he almost had an out-of-body experience.

The corpse that had been lying here just a moment ago had vanished without a trace.

The man hastily looked around, left and right, but he saw no sign of the body—his whole body broke out in goosebumps.

The man was beginning to regret his decision and wanted to back out; while holding the flashlight, he cautiously retreated.

He saw nothing, and still couldn\'t find any trace of the corpse.

Suddenly, it felt as if he had bumped into something with his back, and his whole body tensed up—he mechanically turned his neck to look.

The flashlight beam followed suit and he widened his eyes with terror plastered across his face.

Bathed in the light of the flashlight, a pale, bloodless face with tight skin and deep red eyes that occupied the entire socket without a hint of white showed—only blood-red pupils—and along with his head of gray-white long hair, it was particularly frightening.

Out of extreme shock, the man dropped the flashlight and turned to run.

Unfortunately, he had only just turned around when he let out a scream, and then the cave fell silent again.

The vampire-like creature picked up the stone tablet, hoisted it onto his shoulders, and then walked toward the hole dug by the man.

The hole was too small, and the stone tablet would not fit through; the vampire-like creature simply smashed the tablet against the cave wall, casually creating a big hole, and then walked out carrying the tablet.

The outside light fell on the vampire-like person without harming him; on the contrary, he seemed to enjoy it.

The clothes he wore belonged to the man from before, looking somewhat baggy and ill-fitting on him.

"I, Ye Ya, am finally alive again," declared the vampire-like person, closing his eyes and tilting his face upwards as if basking in the light\'s blessing.

"You, put that Spirit Base down," a sudden voice interrupted the light-basked Ye Ya.

Ye Ya opened his blood-red eyes to look toward the source of the voice—it was a Celestial.

"What are you looking at, put the Spirit Base down and you can go," the Celestial commanded coldly.

On the Giant Ring Star, the Celestials\' status was noticeably higher than other races— even among Pioneer Corps members, Celestials were commonly in leadership positions.

Nobody dared to oppose Celestials on Giant Ring Star, especially not someone rummaging through the Giant God Cemetery like a beggar.

"You want this Spirit Base? Then state your name, let\'s see if you\'re worthy," said Ye Ya, his voice high-pitched yet hoarse, making one wonder why these two completely different vocal characteristics could come from the same person.

"Celestial Race\'s An Zhengguang, is that enough qualification?" the Celestial said arrogantly.

The Celestial Race indeed had the grounds to be arrogant, particularly since the land of Giant God Star was under the An Family\'s jurisdiction.

"An... Zheng... Guang..." Ye Ya muttered the Celestial\'s name as he used his finger to inscribe these three characters on the stone tablet.

"Damn it, what the hell are you doing?" An Zhengguang roared in anger; this bastard had written his name on the stone tablet—that was something only done for the dead, it was an ill omen.

As An Zhengguang was about to lash out, he suddenly saw the name Ye Ya wrote on the tablet begin to ooze with blood, twisting and writhing over the characters, with more and more blood congregating, as if etching the blood characters into the stone itself.

Boom!

An Zhengguang crashed into the ground, his entire body like a dried corpse, completely devoid of moisture as if he had been dead for countless years, dried by the wind, leaving only a face locked in an expression of terror.

With a gust of wind, An Zhengguang\'s dry corpse turned into a cloud of ash.
