American Tax Officer

Chapter 126: Chapter 104: I'll take 70%, you choose the rest!

Keanu certainly understood and replied confidently, "Don't worry, Director, considering the importance of these three to the Ditter case, I'm quite hopeful that I can make it happen!"

"Good, then go!"

Keanu didn't waste any words, immediately walked out, descended the stairs, and headed to the parking lot. He started his vehicle and drove towards the National Tax Bureau Lakeside District Sub-Bureau Branch.

...

More than half an hour later.

The phone ringing at the Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch interrupted David, who was processing documents. He picked up and said, "I'm listening."

"Director David, Inspector Keanu from the Main Street area has arrived and wishes to see you."

"Inspector Keanu?"

David was startled. He was busy with the Ditter case, so why would an inspector from the Main Street area come looking for him at this critical moment?

He couldn't possibly also want a share of the action, could he?

With this suspicion in mind, David replied, "Bring him to my office, please!"

It took about five minutes.

Keanu was brought in and immediately extended his right hand, saying, "Director David, I hope I haven't disturbed your work?"

"Not at all, but what brings you to our Lake District, Inspector Keanu?"

"I heard your Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch has been investigating the Ditter case recently, is that right?"

Without showing any emotion, David answered, "That's correct."

"And from what I understand, you've already pretty much cleaned up the Ditter Group's people, with only Dieter and Virginia remaining in the Indian Reservation outside of the three major 'Kings' you seek to capture, right?"

David became impatient and replied directly, "Inspector Keanu, if you have something to ask or say, please just get to the point!"

Keanu smiled and said, "Speaking of which, it's somewhat coincidental. Earlier on, our Main Street inspection squad raided a criminal den and stumbled upon the three 'Kings' gathered together. We have already captured them!"

Upon hearing that the three 'Kings' were caught, David was somewhat surprised.

He thought to himself that they had nearly turned the Lake District upside down in the past few days without finding a trace of these three 'Kings.'

So they had fled to the Main Street territory!

But coming back to it...

Looking at Keanu and the way he spoke, it seemed that he wasn't intending to hand over the people directly to them.

Could it be... that he wanted some benefits?

If that were the case, it wouldn't be unreasonable!

Even though the three individuals were specifically wanted by their Lake District, after all, it was the inspectors from Main Street who had captured them.

It was only right and proper to give them a reward for their efforts!

Gathering his thoughts, David responded, "I see... Since that's the case, Inspector Keanu, you must know these three are quite important to our Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch. Could you hand them over to us? Of course, I won't let your inspectors' efforts go unrewarded. I'll apply to allocate... from the bureau."

"No need, Director David, I haven't come for the money!"

This answer baffled David even more. If not for the money, then what could he possibly want?

"The thing is, Director David, our bureau has a few tough cases, and with your remarkable abilities, I was hoping you could assist with the investigation. Would that be possible?"

Hearing Keanu's reasons, David finally understood; this was their angle. thanks for reading on m|v|l|e|m|p|y|r

But then again, it was a shrewd calculation.

If it were just about money, a gesture of 100,000 or 80,000 would have been plenty fair and generous from David's side.

But asking for his help on a case was different.

Who knows how much income those cases could yield?

And judging by the economic size of the Main Street and the difficulty the Main Street Sub-Bureau Branch faced, David estimated the cases' value was definitely more than a million, perhaps even millions of US Dollars!

Thinking about it, if he agreed just like that, it would definitely be a loss!

However, he couldn't refuse either.

After all, they had the people he needed, which essentially meant they had a favor over him. If he were to refuse their request now, it would seem a bit ungracious.

With that in mind, David first inquired, "May I ask, what kind of cases are they?"

"The Yarman case, the Garden case, and the Gaboures case. Have you heard of them?"

David thought for a moment; these were Main Street cases, and he didn't have much of an impression or understanding, so he shook his head, "I haven't heard of them."

"The Yarman case involves a..."

As Keanu elaborated without interruption, David quickly got a rough idea about the three cases.

To put it simply, the Yarman case was about a large-scale smuggling ring.

The Garden case involved counterfeit currency.

The Gaboures case pertained to a group suspected of arms dealing.

Although Keanu didn't specify the criminal groups' economic incomes, David gleaned from the conversation that they wouldn't be trifling amounts.

He then asked directly, "Inspector Keanu, I want to know, what's the income situation for these criminal groups?"

Keanu thought for a moment, then blurted out, "According to our data, the leaders of these three groups have a monthly income that's definitely in the range of several millions!"

According to the intelligence department at the Main Street Sub-Bureau Branch, the leaders of the three organizations each had a monthly income of over 4 million US Dollars.
