Chapter 3 - 3: Such a Marriage (3)

Throughout their five-year marriage, Qin Zhiyou was always careful and cautious. Whether taking precautions himself or having her take medicine afterward, he never left any chance for any mistake.
She smiled lightly and picked up the pill with two fingers, swallowing it without hesitation.
After washing up and changing her clothes, Mrs Hao greeted her courteously, “Young Madam.”
Lu Weixi only replied with a lackluster “Hmm”. Breakfast was already prepared on the table, but she was not in the mood, nor did she have time to eat.
In the past, Mrs Hao would prepare the dishes and it didn’t matter whether Lu Weixi ate them or when she ate them. Today, however, was different from the usual; she kept standing behind her until Lu Weixi finished changing her shoes, picked up her bag, and was about to head out. It seemed as though there was something she wanted to say.
Lu Weixi stopped in her tracks, “Mrs Hao, is there something on your mind?”
Mrs Hao fiddled with the corner of her attire then spoke with difficulty, “The young master mentioned that this month’s overnight fee, as well as yesterday’s additional money, has already been transferred into your card by his secretary.”
“Okay,” Lu Weixi replied casually.
“Also,” Mrs Hao hesitated again. When she started talking again her voice was as low as a mosquito’s buzz, “the young master also said that you need to take the contraceptive pill in front of me. He doesn’t want any unnecessary trouble.”
The phrase “in front of me” was emphasized.
The fingers holding Lu Weixi’s bag instantly tightened. With considerable force, the nails almost dug into the flesh. After a while, she relaxed her fingers and indicated agreement with a casual nod. In a calm voice, she said, “You may bring me the medicine.”
The medicine was brought swiftly by Mrs Hao. Lu Weixi took it and swallowed it in front of her, finishing it off by drinking all the water in the glass. She handed the empty glass back to Mrs Hao, took out a few tissues, wiped off the water at the corner of her lips, and threw the scrunched-up tissue into the trash bin. Looking at Mrs Hao in a detached way, she asked, “Is this okay?”
Mrs Hao nodded, casting a concerned look at her. After a long pause, she finally said, “Actually, Young Madam, the young master wasn’t like this. If it weren’t for…”
Without a word, Lu Weixi walked out of the house, the sound of her heels clicking against the floor trailing behind her.

When she arrived at the company, it was in turmoil.
A glamorous woman was sitting arrogantly on the sofa with her arms crossed and legs crossed. She was dressed in the latest Chanel suit, carrying a Hermes handbag, and sporting a pair of sunglasses. Beside her stood an assistant-like person. This woman was her client, Liu Yiyi, the recently popular hostess of Yan City TV Station.
Xiaochen had explained numerous times, but Liu Yiyi’s assistant was incessant: “Don’t think that just because Yiyi is lenient, you can take her lightly. We said earlier that these areas of the design needed changing. You guys agreed wholeheartedly, so why does the renovation look like this?”
Xiaochen tried to defend herself, “The design has been revised seven or eight times, and in the end, you guys agreed and signed the contract. We followed everything as per the contract without any negligence, and we didn’t overcharge a single penny.”
There were always a few difficult clients every month. Lu Weixi was used to it. She wouldn’t even bat an eye if Liu Yiyi’s assistant hadn’t said these words: “How dare you shirk your responsibilities? Do you know who Yiyi’s patron is? Qin Zhiyou, the president of Hanhai Company!”
