Chapter 276 - 283 What the hell is this? (Fifth Update)
Yang Zhen watched as Mo Xueling turned to walk towards the Snake Road. He opened his mouth to say something, but he was quelled by a cold stare from a young man.
“Damn, so you think you’re something just because you have high cultivation? I’ll grind your darling girl into the ground sooner or later.” Yang Zhen muttered resentfully under his breath as he glared back at the young man. “I don’t understand why these guys cultivate so quickly. Doesn’t that make their foundations unstable and make it harder for them to pass the Heavenly Tribulation?”
The Scornful Cat sneered, correcting him, “What do you know? These people act according to the heavens. When they face the tribulation, they’re protected by powerful sect masters, by various heavenly treasures and Spirit Treasures. It’s basically not dangerous at all for them to face the tribulation, unless they break through and become a grandmaster, and face a higher Heavenly Tribulation.”
Yang Zhen was stunned, “Really?”
“Yes!” The Saucy Chicken, acting very official, cameover and bit Yang Zhen’s pant leg, dragging him in front of a math problem. “Solve it!”
Yang Zhen looked at the Saucy Chicken, surprised. “You’re interested in this?”
Before the Saucy Chicken could reply, the Scornful Cat, unable to bear it any longer, smacked the Saucy Chicken on the head, cursing, “Could you not be so arrogant?”
The blow made the Saucy Chicken stumble. Outraged, it glared at the Scornful Cat and retorted, “No!”
Yang Zhen pulled back the Scornful Cat, who was about to explode with anger, and placated it, “Alright, alright. It’s always been like this, that’s just how it behaves. It’s not being arrogant, really.”
“Really!” The Saucy Chicken glanced at the Scornful Cat, causing Yang Zhen’s eye to twitch.
The Saucy Chicken was simply an aura of sass. Every word and action screamed, ‘I’m the most arrogant and the best’. It was no wonder the Scornful Cat couldn’t stand it. Even Yang Zhen wanted to grind it into the ground.
“Huh?” The Scornful Cat suddenly exclaimed, “Kid, I think that girl and her crew are attempting to decipher the Snake Road. Interesting. Hurry up and solve the problem. These people seem pretty powerful. If they get through before us, it’d be really embarrassing.”
Yang Zhen glanced over at Mo Xueling and her group. Seeing them heading toward the Snake Road, he quickly squatted down to solve the problem, though it only made his head hurt further.
“It’s the aftermath… definitely the aftermath of my schooling. I always did poorly in math. Others could score one hundred and twenty points, but I could only score sixty, and that was mostly through guessing.”
Yang Zhen mumbled to himself. Suddenly he had a brilliant idea. He clapped his hands together, exclaiming, “I’ve got it!”
“Solved it?” The Scornful Cat and the Saucy Chicken both leaned in, curious.
Yang Zhen gave a smug smile, full of satisfaction. “I’ll just watch how they navigate first, it might inspire me.”
Both the Scornful Cat and Saucy Chicken exchanged glances before giving Yang Zhen a contemptuous look.
Angered, Yang Zhen was about to reprimand them when suddenly he stumbled.
Boom !
A massive wave of True Essence erupted in the sky above the Spirit Road. The turbulent wave ascended, covering the sky within the blink of an eye.
The young man, Shanyang, took a step onto the Snake Road and walked between the two walls.
Yang Zhen quickly followed, peeking from the entrance. On seeing that Shanyang was the only one who entered, he sighed in relief.
It looked like even the disciples of the Ink Pool Peak weren’t overly confident, otherwise, it wouldn’t have been just Shanyang entering. They would have entered one after the other, walking the Snake Road together.
Shanyang clearly had not practiced the Snake Skin Movement. His face was solemn as he held something that looked like a small ruler, stepped onto the first square formation, and looked towards the other side.
“A telescope?” Yang Zhen looked curiously, then his face fell in disappointment.
This was just an ordinary ruler with a crosshair-like presence for aiming, but Yang Zhen was somewhat puzzled, this thing was accurate, yes, but what was it referencing?
All measurements without a reference point were just fooling around. Hadn’t they ever heard of that saying?
“This is a unique Spirit Treasure of the Ink Pool Peak, named the Heaven Measuring Ruler, capable of measuring everything under heaven and earth and shrinking them proportionally.” Mo Xueling’s eyes revolved around, glanced at Yang Zhen, and then continued to say, “Therefore, the continental map of the Ink Pool Peak is the most accurate. No place can surpass it.”
Yang Zhen pursed his lips, clearly somewhat disbelieving. Although his math was a bit subpar, he knew that the basic ruler for drawing maps was a triangular scale ruler, not this kind of straight ruler. Would this thing measure without an error?
Curious, Yang Zhen looked towards the Spirit Road. After seeing the densely packed prohibitions, he suddenly felt dizzy and hurriedly shrank his neck, refocusing his gaze on Shanyang.
Shanyang obviously had heard of the Snake Skin Movement and moved swiftly along the first line until he reached the yin wall. He hummed lightly and snapped a spherical prohibition into brilliance.
Boom boom boom!
Terrifying True Essence erupted and surged forth. The entire Spirit Road was filled with overwhelming shockwaves, leaving Yang Zhen utterly speechless.
This frightening power. If Shanyang made a wrong step, he would likely have been blasted until he was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Although everyone’s cultivation was quite high, stronger even than Lin Tianli, facing this power of heaven and earth on the Spirit Road, they seemed somewhat lacking.
In the blink of an eye, an incredibly gripping power of Divine Consciousness Space radiated from the hut on the Spirit Road, scanning over everyone present.
When that consciousness power swept over Yang Zhen, his face suddenly changed dramatically. His inner True Essence was on the verge of erupting wildly, and a storm was stirred up in his Divine Consciousness Space. Between the overturning waves, both the star ocean in midair and the spirit sea on the ground were boiling, and the heavens and earth roared with anger.
Under such circumstances, Yang Zhen was genuinely startled. In front of this consciousness power, he had a feeling of complete helplessness. It was as if ordinary beings faced Death, and he shivered to his very soul, gasping for air.
It wasn’t until he felt a warmth in his hand that Yang Zhen suddenly woke up. Like a drowning man clutching at a straw, he held on tightly.
There was a hint of agony in Hua Youyue’s eyes as she whispered softly into Yang Zhen’s ear, “It’s me, relax!”
Upon hearing this, Yang Zhen loosened up and took a deep breath. His expression was startled as he stared at the wooden house.
All the people present were equally startled, including Mo Xueling. Their gazes were filled with confusion and misunderstanding as they all turned to look at Yang Zhen.
Although others felt a sensation of scrutiny, no one reacted as dramatically as Yang Zhen. Even the less skilled practitioners merely changed color slightly before regaining their composure, while Yang Zhen paled and started to sweat profusely.
“What’s wrong with you?” Hua Youyue looked worriedly at Yang Zhen, letting him grip her hand tightly.
Yang Zhen’s eyes flickered with disbelief. He looked at the wooden house in amazement and said, “What is that…”
Before he could finish, Yang Zhen’s expression changed again. A wave of all- encompassing consciousness power rushed towards him, engulfing him as quickly as a great sea.
Yang Zhen stumbled, involuntarily letting go of Hua Youyue’s hand. His body jerked, and he clenched his body like a fierce beast, staring unwaveringly at the wooden house.
“Damn it, what the hell is that?”
Yang Zhen’s voice was like a low growl, muffled and hoarse.
Everyone was startled, looking at Yang Zhen with confusion. The consciousness power had actually returned to fall onto Yang Zhen again.
Such a thing had never happened before. Previously they were just swept over once, but now, it targeted Yang Zhen individually.
Just as everyone was shocked and confused, a light exclamation came from inside the wooden house.
