Chapter 204: 201 This is a bit strange! (Third update)
To be precise, that was a bit inaccurate. Whether this place was truly in the East Sea, Yang Zhen wasn’t entirely sure. He was shoved into a vortex by an old man of the Sea Dragon Clan using a walking stick, and after being disoriented, he ended up here.
What Yang Zhen knew, was that there were many crossroads along his journey. Whenever he encountered a crossroad, a beam of light would shine from both him and his company, the Sly Cat. This light, similar to the one on the old Sea Dragon’s stick, would automatically guide them to choose a path. The process was even more effective than any damn navigation system.
One thing that puzzled Yang Zhen was that this place didn’t feel like a legacy at all, rather like a pill-refining platform!
In a not-so-big space, there was an incredibly large pill furnace in the center, surrounded by wisp of azure smoke. The furnace, with its beautiful bronze color, radiated a quaint and refreshing aroma that left Yang Zhen and Sly Cat entranced. Despite sniffing at the furnace for a good while, they couldn’t identify the scent, leaving them looking at each other in bewilderment.
“Could the Eastern Desolation Emperor have been a Tiaoist?” Sly Cat lamented, “Such restraints, that’s truly unusual. He could’ve at least left behind some heavenly treasures, or even some emperor-level cultivation methods or martial skills. Instead, only this crappy furnace remains and there’s literally nothing else. Was he so poor?”
Yang Zhen, after taking a look around, shook his head and said, “I don’t think it’s as simple as that!”
Sly Cat guffawed, “Great minds think alike, but how do we find it in this open space?”
Yang Zhen smirked, “If we can’t find it, we’ll understand it!”
“What if we can’t comprehend it?” Sly Cat probed deeper.
Yang Zhen cursed under his breath, “How could we possibly not comprehend it? If it really comes to that, there could only be two reasons. One, the Eastern Desolation Emperor truly had such restraints and didn’t leave anything behind whilst calling it a legacy.”
“And the second one?” Sly Cat asked curiously.
Yang Zhen took a hard look at the pill furnace in front of them and said, “The second possibility is that the things the Eastern Desolation Emperor left behind were related to the Heavenly Calamity, and over the long passage of time, they’ve been erased by the power of the law!”
Sly Cat shivered, his eyes wide with surprise, “Kid, I believe the second possibility is more likely!”
Yang Zhen snorted, started walking around, and while doing so, he said, “Which possibility it is, isn’t important anymore. No matter which one it is, it’s impossible that we’ll end up with anything. Huh, if we can’t get anything from here, we can at least leave something behind!”
Sly Cat looked at Yang Zhen with confusion, “Are you out of your mind? If we can’t gain anything, why would we leave something behind? I don’t do business at a loss.”
Yang Zhen let out a strange chuckle, looking at Sly Cat with mirth gleaming in his eyes.
Sly Cat felt uncomfortable under Yang Zhen’s gaze, he stepped back and asked cautiously, “Kid, what are you up to? Not plotting something psychotic again, are you?”
Yang Zhen scowled, “Damn it! Stop thinking I’m as bad as you. A person lives but once, dragged on in this world with lofty aspirations. How can I live such a miserable life? Even if I can’t be magnificent, at least I need to have a bit of a legacy to pass onto future generations!”
Sly Cat looked strangely at Yang Zhen, feeling amused, “Sure, speak human. How are we going to do this? You make a good point. If we couldn’t be magnificent, let’s at least leave a story for the future. How about we go and overturn the fortune of Mountain Hua?”
Yang Zhen slapped Sly Cat on the head, “Can’t you think of something more sensible?”
Sly Cat held his head, disgruntled, “Then tell me, what’s sensible?”
Yang Zhen leaned in close to Sly cat’s ear and said, “Do you remember when I mentioned wanting to be the Pirate King?”
Sly Cat’s eyes gleamed, pointing at Yang Zhen, he exclaimed excitedly, “Are you going to become a pirate? Take me with you! Take me with you! How could I miss such a fun adventure!”
Yang Zhen hummed, “Of course it’s not that simple, we actually need to thank you for this.”
“Naturally…,”
“Without you, this pain in the ass, I wouldn’t have had such a hard time.”
“What do you mean?” the damned cat fumed.
Yang Zhen slanted his eyes at the damned cat and said, “Now everyone under the heavens knows that I entered the inheritance place of the Eastern Desolation Emperor. If we step out now, we’d probably see thousands, if not tens of thousands of people, all bloody waiting for us.”
“Holy shit, what should we do?” the damned cat widened its eyes.
Yang Zhen sneered and beckoned the cat. “Come here.”
The damned cat, doubtful yet trusting, moved its ear close to Yang Zhen. Once Yang Zhen shared his plan, the cat’s eyes turned into light bulbs and it nodded hastily. “That’s good, that’s good, let’s do it!”
The man and the cat shared a mischievous glance before splitting up.
Yang Zhen approached a wall and used his hand as a brush, and the Golden Lotus Heavenly Fire as ink. He drew on the wall a Peppa Pig that fused his talent inscription and Tiaoist details.
After thinking for a moment, he decided it was too simple. He used the Golden Lotus Heavenly Fire again to hide Peppa Pig so it would only reappear when touched with blood.
With the setup complete, the setup suddenly seemed a little more high-end.
Having done all this, Yang Zhen turned with curiosity to see what the damned cat intended to leave behind. Suddenly, his head spun and the entire world seemed to flip. He spun rapidly, careening towards a gigantic bronze pill furnace in the middle. In the blink of an eye, he was swallowed by it.
Yang Zhen jumped with fright. This place was not as simple as it seemed. But he never expected the complication to be a man-eating pill furnace.
Yang Zhen sat in the furnace, trying to stand up when he shuddered. A look of horror crossed his face.
Wave after wave of violent fire swelled from all directions. Yang Zhen had nowhere to hide and was instantly scorched head-on.
Bloody hell, wasn’t this supposed to be the Eastern Desolation Emperor’s furnace? How did it become the Supreme Elder’s?
The terrifying waves of fire blazed, as if they wanted to reduce Yang Zhen to ashes. Yang Zhen hurriedly put out the flames on his body, shrieking. As he shrieked, he realized something was not right. Despite the raging fire, he couldn’t feel an ounce of pain nor any heat.
The next moment, Yang Zhen’s eyes bulged dramatically.
Wave after wave of terrifying fire surged, wildly entering his body, rushing into his Dantian and merging with his Nascent Soul. Yang Zhen’s cultivation level shot up as if he was on a rocket.
This was getting weird!
Yang Zhen blinked and patted a few key spots on his body. Feeling no pain, he yelled again, “No, stop it, I want to get off… stop… stop…”
In just a few breaths, Yang Zhen’s cultivation had cross the Nascent Soul Stage peak and was rushing headlong into the Void Cultivation Stage.
Just as his Nascent Soul was about to explode and he was on the verge of entering the Void Cultivation Stage, Yang Zhen’s countenance turned stern, he kicked the furnace furiously.
“Stop, stop, stop, Sao Saint commands you to stop!”
Crash!
A loud noise echoed as a violent wave of energy exploded from inside Yang Zhen. It roared like a dragon, resonated like a drum, and the pill furnace wailed, stopping the terrifying fire waves.
Yang Zhen laughed with his mouth wide open. As he laughed, his laughter gradually became hysterical.
“Damn it, do you know how much Saint Sao has done to suppress my cultivation level? If I want to improve my level, Saint Sao can do it in a minute, without needing such a stupid way.”
After a bit of ranting, Yang Zhen crawled out of the furnace. His eyes caught the damned cat sneaking in the corner, its ass in the air.. Yang Zhen’s eyes widened, “Damned cat, what the hell are you doing?”
