Chapter 131 - 131: Boasting Without Real Strength
“Shanggeng Mirror World was a realm created by the powers of the Saint Realm in the Shanggeng Era. It encapsulated a sliver of the law’s strength, allowing the world to persist forever.”
The Practitioner muttered to himself, seemingly oblivious to Yang Zhen’s question.
Yang Zhen heaved a sigh of relief. The term “Shanggeng Mirror World” sounded quite frightening, but it was merely a man-made world. What was there to be scared of? He had been overly apprehensive about it.
With a pallid face, the Practitioner seemed to hesitate about entering or not. Prodded by his companions, he quickly explained, “The Shanggeng Mirror World can manipulate anything in accordance with the creator’s intentions. Even the numerous monsters within it are immortal, and it is fraught with dangers where any entrant can be destroyed!”
“What?” Yang Zhen staggered backward, hastily distancing himself from the blood light.
So, the monsters might be immortal, but humans can be killed? What the hell kind of place was this? If the Shanggeng Mirror World was like this, what was the point of creating it?
The Practitioner seemed to be recalling something and muttered, “I only heard about the Shanggeng Mirror World accidentally. It is said that within the Shanggeng Mirror World, the creator is akin to a god, and no living being can defy their will.”
Upon hearing this, Yang Zhen felt an intense urge to turn around and leave.
What was the point of playing around in such a world? If in recent years, the creator had initiated an eternal time rule for their amusement, and snapped their fingers once people like him entered – that would be more potent than Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet. It was essentially a god’s snap.
Medicine Elder and the others caught up and were similarly shocked upon hearing about the Shanggeng Mirror World. They hesitantly commented, “The Dust Blood Great Sage actually went so far as to sacrifice his own future to create the Shanggeng Mirror World. It shows that he was prepared for certain death.”
“What does it mean to sacrifice one’s future?” Yang Zhen asked in surprise, his heart palpitated.
How terrifying could a world created by a ruthless person who severed their own future be?
Hua Youyue glanced at the Practitioner before explaining to Yang Zhen, “It means denying your path. The Dust Blood Great Sage denied his path to refine a realm. This likely contains all his inheritance, or it could be a shocking scheme he laid out while he was alive.”
At the mention of ‘denying your path’, Yang Zhen felt a jolt in his heart. He had never heard of severing one’s future, but he had heard about ‘denying your path’. This was not only severing one’s past and future but also severing all connections with the world in this lifetime.
It was akin to going all-in on the poker table of the Blue Planet, but the chances of winning were virtually nil!
The Dust Blood Great Sage was truly ruthless!
Buzz!
Suddenly, a horrifying energy wave erupted from the Shanggeng Mirror World, and its turbulent barrier expanded rapidly. Before Yang Zhen could curse, he was encompassed within it. Ghostly wails and wolf-like howls sounded from the surroundings, lingering for a long time.
Yang Zhen felt dizzy as if he was torn apart, hit on the head with a hammer, and then found himself in another world.
Just as he was sobering up, he felt a jolt run through his body.
He found this world vaguely familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.
The atmosphere was so thick it was almost material, making one feel intoxicated on elemental energy. The world’s energy was extremely rich.
Yang Zhen felt that cultivating here might be more than five times as efficient as anywhere else.
What shocked and surprised him was that the air here was filled with an intense barbaric aura, as if he had traveled back in time from Nether State to the Shanggeng Era, a grand and barbaric world.
Chaotic energy waves of fear were visible in the sky, and the vast mountainous world exuded a grey, oppressive force. Heavenly majestic power vibrated in the sky, grandly arriving.
There were no towering trees here, only low shrubs, and endless mountain ranges. Yang Zhen stood alone in the vast world, atop a bare hillock, with ten thousand alpacas running wild in his mind.
Where the hell was this place?
Hua Youyue once mentioned casually that many mysteries of the Shanggeng Era remained unresolved. What exactly transpired during that time is completely unknown to the people of the present day.
It seemed as if this mystery was slightly unveiled before Yang Zhen, and he naturally couldn’t just stand still or continue his cultivation here.
Fortunately, Yang Zhen had a sense of direction. To the north, a terrifying pillar constructed of blood pierced through the heaven and earth. Everyone would likely be drawn to that place.
As he proceeded, Yang Zhen suddenly recalled a similar scene — the Nine Realms Exquisite Tower!
Back then, the tower underwent a drastic transformation. Inside the
Nine-layer World was such a nearly barbaric world, yet it lacked the blood pillars. Instead, there was a crystal coffin floating in mid-air with a breathtakingly beautiful woman inside who had been sleeping for countless years.
It was at that time Yang Zhen witnessed the woman’s terrifying power, which could split the heaven and earth with a single sword stroke. He also understood the profound meaning behind that sword stroke.
The two worlds were oddly similar — both nearly primitive and barbaric. Whether the two were connected in some way was unclear, or where the beautiful woman in the coffin had gone to.
Boom!
Thunderous roars resounded through the mid-air, and terrifying blood dragons tumbled and plunged. An unknown number of ferocious beasts or even monsters roared around him, Yang Zhen followed the trail of the blood glow when suddenly, he stopped, quietly watching in one direction.
“Come out! What’s the point of hiding?”
Yang Zhen calmly unsheathed the Thunderbolt Sword, smirked at a huge stone in front of him.
“I knew I didn’t judge wrong. You are Yang Zhen not Li Xiaoyao!”
A familiar voice drifted from behind the huge stone. Taken aback, Yang Zhen watched as Sun Yushi slowly emerged, smirking at him.
Upon seeing Sun Yushi, Yang Zhen furrowed his brows. He hadn’t expected to run into a nemesis in such an unlikely place, even after having journeyed to an entirely new world. This man had actually followed him here, so what happened to Medicine Elder and the others?
“How did you find out I’m Yang Zhen?” asked Yang Zhen curiously.
Sun Yushi’s countenance soured noticeably as he jabbed a finger towards Yang Zhen, abrasive words spewing from his lips, “Given Yang Zhen’s suspicious, cunning, pathetic, shameless, and sneaky character, how would he let Li Xiaoyao have the Thunderbolt Sword?”
Yang Zhen was taken aback, and he burst into loud laughter. He had an epiphany and said, “I see, I didn’t know that Brother Sun knew me so well. Should I feel thankful or should I curse you?”
Yang Zhen sharply pointed at Sun Yushi and shouted back, “If anyone’s suspicious, cunning, pathetic, shameless, and sneaky, it’s you! You and your family. You not only have golden swords but also silver ones!”
Boom!
“Yang Zhen!”
Sun Yushi roared with rage, releasing a terrifying aura around him. The powerful eminence of the Nascent Soul Stage instantly washed over like a storm, shrouding Yang Zhen.
“Rudely mouthing off when you’re about to die. Today, I’ll show you how insurmountable the difference between the Golden Pill Stage and Nascent Soul Stage truly is!”
Indeed, the Nascent Soul Stage was terrifying. Yang Zhen struggled to breathe under the immense pressure. Smiling wryly at Sun Yushi he asked, “Do you know why I hardly killed anyone along this journey?”
His question caught Sun Yushi off guard who responded scoffingly, “Why?”
Buzz!
Yang Zhen vanished from the spot as his relaxed voice resonated through the air, “Because I simply don’t think highly of you guys.. No strength and all talk!”
