Chapter 108 - 108: The Unpredictable Majesty of Heaven
“You said… how much have you grasped?” The boss lady stared at Yang Zhen blankly, only to realise that she dropped her broadsword. She quickly picked it up and swung it onto her back again.
“Arghhh!!!!!”
Lin Shilang screamed miserably, his face filled with resentment and disbelief as he looked at Yang Zhen, not even bothering to tend to the wounds on his feet.
Yang Zhen looked at Lin Shilang innocently and said, “A book, is that not allowed? Should be better than three words, right?”
Lin Shilang suddenly felt such an urge to curse, his face screamed how unfair this was! This was too much! He had never seen someone so shameless, it had to be on purpose, it had to be!
Who would believe such a ridiculous claim that he comprehended a whole book?
Even the teacher had said once that if someone could grasp more than three words, he would take them as his personal disciple and focus on their cultivation. After so many years, not a single person grasped even one word. Yet here he was, sitting on his ass for three days, claiming he had interpreted a whole book?
The boss lady looked at Yang Zhen intensely, her face serious, “Are you telling the truth?”
“Absolutely!”
A bad omen hit Lin Shilang all of a sudden, and he almost believed Yang Zhen. Even though Yang Zhen was notorious for his bluffs, what if this time he was telling the truth?
The boss lady patted Yang Zhen’s shoulder excitingly, “I knew you could do it, Little Huan!”
In the crowd, Little Huan finally squeezed in, looked at Yang Zhen curiously and said, “Boss lady, what’s up?”
“Set sail, back to the Coast of the East Sea!”
Little Huan agreed, turned around and shouted, “What are you all waiting for? Hurry up and set sail, we’re going back to the Coast of the East Sea!”
Everyone scattered and got to their tasks. Soon, the Blade One started to rumble as it slowly ascended and headed towards the East Sea. They had made this voyage countless times before, but this time was different.
If Yang Zhen’s words were true, he would probably be the teacher’s last disciple.
The possibility of this happening left all the practitioners on board in a daze. It was like a dream, but the dazzling golden aura in the sky wouldn’t lie.
Yang Zhen finally got away from the relentless questioning of the boss lady. Alone in his cabin, he contemplated the mysterious aura from the Tao Te Ching. What puzzled him, was that even though the Tao Te Ching was filled with profound wisdom, he was unable to channel it freely. This might have something to do with the fact that the Tao Te Ching was not originally his.
This was a question he might have to ask the mysterious teacher.
The overseas trial was about to start. Now, flying boats from all over the Nether State were heading towards the Coast of the East Sea. Along the way, Yang Zhen saw all sorts of flying boats and even swordsmen flying on their swords, all rushing towards the Coast of the East Sea.
On the fifth day of the Blade One’s voyage, Yang Zhen inadvertently heard some news that set his heart ablaze.
There had been some change deep in the East Sea Abyss near Turtle Serpent Island, one of the three islands in the East Sea. Various sea monsters had emerged, causing a massive surge of waves that made the Heaven and Earth Qi tremble. Many people were rushing towards it, it must be the emergence of some ancient secret treasure or ruin.
This news shocked everyone. Most of the secret treasures appearing in the East Sea were part of some ancient inheritance. Their existence in the maritime realm moved all the significant overseas Cave Heaven Blessed Lands.
All parties who received this news sped up their journey to the max. With this news, this overseas trial was bound to be a rare grand event. Countless talents would gather on Turtle Serpent Island, and many powerful experts would make an appearance.
Over the five days, Yang Zhen had come to relish his choice.
This route was not safe with innumerable air pirate attacks and volatile Qi turbulence in the sky. It was indeed fraught with danger.
Yang Zhen had personally witnessed more than ten colossal airships being blown into pieces by those rambunctious air pirates. The practitioners on board those airships were ruthlessly murdered. All their supplies were stolen by the pirates.
During these five days, many air pirates observed the Blade from a distance, Yet, even the mightiest pirate gangs did not dare to approach. They were frightened by the sight of the true essence canons on the blade.
Yang Zhen lay on the deck, looking at the white clouds in the sky. Little Huan sat quietly by his side, curiously asked, “Young Master Yang, I heard you want to be the King of pirates. Why don’t you want to be an air pirate?”
“Air pirates are lacking ambition. The beautiful star ocean is my ultimate dream!” Yang Zhen turned his gaze to Little Huan. This lass was not tall but she liked carrying a great saber, struggling with the weight but stubbornly announcing her future plan of crafting an even bigger saber.
Little Huan giggled and said, “Air pirates are not lacking ambition. The ones we’ve encountered are just small factions, incapable of great things. If we encounter the Black Dove, even we would have to make a detour.”
“Oh?” Yang Zhen became interested, asking “Is the Black Dove stronger than the Blade?”
Little Huan nodded, speaking with lingering fear: “The Black Dove is the strongest pirate ship, rumored to have several Nascent Soul Stage Experts, numerous pirates at the Golden Core Stage. What sets them apart is their True Essence canons that can shoot farther than standard airships. They can hit us while we can’t hit them. If a battle breaks out, we can only rush forward recklessly, risking being hit.”
Yang Zhen found this intriguing, then asked: “But even if we can make it to them, facing many Nascent Soul Stage Experts, we still can’t win, can we?”
Little Huan nodded her head and said, “Exactly, that’s why the Black Dove is the nightmare of all airships. Once word of the Black Dove’s arrival spreads, the entire route would be suspended or take a detour.”
Yang Zhen marveled at the fact that having a True Essence canon with a long firing range could indeed make it the ruler of the sky. If the eight times magnifier was mounted on the Blade, would it be able to blow it out of the sky with one shot?
Just then, an alarm sounded. Little Huan’s complexion changed as she said to Yang Zhen, “Young Master Yang, the Blade is about to pass through the Abyssal Turbulence. Let’s return to the cabin.”
The Abyssal Turbulence was a sudden eruption of True Essence in the middle of the air, a unique aspect along this route. Weak airships couldn’t possibly get through the Abyssal Turbulence unharmed. They would be shredded into pieces in an instant.
As soon as Yang Zhen entered the cabin, he felt dizzy. An air wave flooded all around him. The surroundings became foggy.
Wild Particle surgeands of True Essence raged haphazardly in the air, without any pattern, distorting the space and light around it.
Looking out of the transparent crystal window, all one could see was a chaotic flux of colors, resembling many raging snakes, a sight of utter chaos, nothing was discernible.
Yang Zhen curiously observed the terrifying spectacle, fearing the power of nature, something that was difficult to control, and one of the things that all practitioners feared the most.
Even though it wasn’t the Blade’s first time experiencing such an Abyssal Turbulence, everyone aboard still had solemn expressions.
Even the Boss had a serious expression on her face, giving orders methodically.
“The turbulence this time seems exceptionally intimidating. Everyone must carry out their duty impeccably. There’s no room for any errors!” she said.
It was undeniable that the Boss deserved to be the owner of the Blade. The powerful aura emanating from her even amazed Yang Zhen.
Yang Zhen felt this Boss was not an ordinary Nascent Soul Stage Expert. Otherwise, her aura wouldn’t be so stable amidst such wild turbulence giving a sense of unshakeable calm.
A rugged middle-aged man named Liu Shanquan, who was only at the initial stage of Golden Core, came over to Yang Zhen’s side and said with emotion, “How do you feel? Is it exciting and nerve-wracking?”
Yang Zhen nodded, glancing at the rugged man and said, “Indeed, nature is unpredictable. Who could have imagined such a terrifying place in mid-air? I am only curious about how it feels to be inside it.”
Liu Shanquan was startled and quickly pulled Yang Zhen back, saying, “Don’t do anything reckless. Sister in charge asked me to be by your side. I don’t want to venture into this ghostly thing with you.”
The Abyssal Turbulence passed quickly. Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, an ear-piercing alarm suddenly echoed throughout the airship.
Liu Shanquan rushed to the crystal window.. His face became horror-struck as he cried out in dread, “The Black Dove!”
